The ASID Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) is the Society’s flagship event and the leading professional gathering for adult and paediatric ID physicians, clinical microbiologists, public health leaders, One Health, veterinarian and ecology specialists, nurses, scientists, pharmacists, policy makers, and researchers across Australasia across Australasia. Together, we shape the future of infectious diseases.

Held annually and rotating across Australian and New Zealand cities, the ASM:

  • Brings together specialists, trainees, researchers, and policymakers from across the region and internationally.

Each ASM is developed in collaboration with a local organising committee and reflects the regional priorities, current challenges, and emerging themes relevant to infectious diseases practice and research.

Welcome note from Conveners

We’re excited to welcome you to the ASID 2026 Annual Scientific Meeting, taking place in person at the Hotel Grand Chancellor, Hobart from 28–30 May.

Set against the stunning backdrop of Hobart’s historic waterfront and kunanyi / Mount Wellington, this year’s theme — Exploring the Terrain: Humans, Vectors & Pathogens — highlights our deepening relationship with the natural environment, its ecosystems, and the evolving pathways of disease transmission.

The program will feature a diverse range of topics, including:

  • The impact of our changing climate on communicable diseases
  • Updates on immunomodulatory therapies and their role in infection management
  • Emerging and priority pathogens, including those targeted for elimination
  • Unique infectious diseases and public health challenges specific to Tasmania
