Professor Adrian Hill
Professor Adrian Hill is Director, Founder and Professor of Vaccinology at the Jenner Institute, Oxford University. Professor Adrian Hill's group has developed adenoviral and other vaccines against infectious diseases which have been tested in over 80 clinical trials in Africa and Europe. In partnership with Serum Institute of India and AstraZeneca the Jenner Institute developed the ChAdOx1 vector-based SARS-CoV-2 vaccine which saved ~6.2 million lives in 2021 alone.
Professor Adrian Hill's lab has also developed a malaria vaccine, R21/Matrix-MTM which was licensed in 2023 and then rolled out in many African countries in 2024 where it will contribute to reduce the 500,000 childhood deaths from malaria each year.
Professor Adeeba Kamarulzaman
Professor Adeeba Kamarulzaman is President & Pro Vice-Chancellor of Monash University Malaysia and previously served as Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at University Malaya. Professor Kamarulzaman is also an Honorary Professor at UM and an Adjunct Associate Professor at Yale University, USA. Professor Kamarulzaman is actively involved in HIV prevention, treatment, and care programs and holds leadership positions as Chairman of the Malaysian AIDS Foundation and Past President of the International AIDS Society. Professor Kamarulzaman has contributed significantly to the establishment and activities of the regional HIV research network initiative, TREAT Asia.
Additionally, Professor Kamarulzaman has advised various WHO, UNAIDS, and UNODC committees on HIV/AIDS and served as Co-Chair of WHO's Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee (STAC) for HIV.
